Earth4Energy

Earth4Energy is the most popular DIY book and as it turns out, with good reason.

Earth4Energy promises to show you how to build your own solar panel or wind generator for under $200 and does exactly that. But we found the best part to be the instructional videos. Everything is easier when you actually see someone do it.

I'm not very mechanically inclined and have to admit that I was a little confused (actually a lot!). After watching the videos, it started to make more sense.

It also contains a couple of what they call "free chapters" that show you how to reduce your oil dependency and how to use ethanol as a viable energy source.

What we didn't like: Earth4Energy gives you everything it promises, but little else. There are no bonuses and little insight beyond the obvious. But if all you want is to build your own solar panels or wind generator, you can't go wrong. And as we stated earlier, the instructional videos make it very easy.

Important notice! Don't buy Earth4Energy from the sales link! At the time of this review, we discovered that if you try to leave the page or close "Suzy", their spokewoman (which we found a bit annoying), a phony chat box pops up and offers a $10 discount. We strongly recommend that if you plan to buy, to take advantage of this offer.

Usually, even though they tell you it's a limited time offer, they never go away. BUT ... you never know. If and only IF you want to buy, we suggest taking advantage of this offer right away.

Price: $49.97

Feedback:

I have used these "plans" and am very happy with the purchase. For just over $100 I was able to power all my kitchen appliances on wind power. Next I am working on some of the solar plans they detail. I'm a woman with very little mechanical ability and these plans were SIMPLE to follow.

It worked for me, I've not converted my home completely to renewable sources but I have cut my electricity bills by around 30% with a solar panel and a power generating windmill.

I also have personally used Earth4Energy and rest assured it does what it claims. And as Vince said, you can get a full refund on the project if you are not 100% satisfied.

Energy4Green

Energy4Green is a relative newcomer to the scene and therefore not as popular, but it's climbing fast.

We found that it goes into a lot more detail than some of the other books. However, a lot of this detail might be considered trivial.

DIY Power System

DIY Power System is the ultimate in energy info products. Want to build solar panels? Got it. Wind generator? That, too. Your own batteries? Yep. Biodesiel? They have that covered. Want to build your own house? YOUR OWN HOUSE?

If you are into quanity over quality, DIY Power System is for you. It costs more than the others, but makes up for it with vast amounts of info.
